Help! My eyelashes are growing down instead of curling up. I tried an eyelash curler and curling mascara, but they just won't cooperate. What can I do?

The best solution is still the eyelash curler. You will need to crimp the eyelash at the very base, then crimp again in the middle and finally crimp a third time at the tip of your eyelashes. It's similar to having a cowlick and forcing your hair a certain way with hair spray and a curling iron. Use mascara first to act as your "hairspray", then use the eyelash curler. You will need to train your lashes, just like you train hair, so you will need to do this to your lashes often, probably everyday, until they "learn" to behave.

I would like some step-by-step instructions to putting on black makeup to get smoky dark eyes. I have tried over and over again and it always just looks dirty and smudged, never exotic. Thanks a lot.

First, throw away the black eye shadow.. The smoky look is done with shades of grey or charcoal or in blues or berries/purple and violet shades. You can keep your black eye liner and black mascara. For the evening you can darken with deeper blues, black (but not if you have a light skin tone) and grays, coupled with false eyelashes for added drama. Now to get the look follow these steps:

Step 1. Line top and bottom lashes with cranberry, green or black depending on your eye color.

Step 2. Smudge and blend the line so the color smoothly transitions from the lashes.

Step 3. Layer an eye shadow of a contrasting or coordinating shade on top of the liner, blending up and out at the outer corner of the eye. (This part is tricky and if not done right will result in that dirty smudged look you hate). I suggest you look for a liner brush or a Q-tip to help you.

Step 4. Add a second layer of eye shadow in a lighter shade at the crease of the eye and blend up toward the eyebrow. Trend upward with the color and at an angle at the outer corner of your eye, like "Cat eyes" without as much drama.

Step 5. Add your Mascara for the final touch.

A great color eyeshadow combination that will help with instant smoky eyes is Orient by Colosé Cosmetics.

I got into an accident and now my skin on my face is not so good. it has red small lines like veins. My skin is even color and it does not look smooth, is there anything I can do to help it make look smooth and flawless?

Colosé Cosmetics makes a product called Highlighter that is specially formulated to cover the appearance of red lines. It will also restore your natural glow and help make your skin appear smooth and flawless. I highly recommend this product.

Could you advise me on what makeup and what colors I should use and avoid now I am in my thirties?

It is ideal to begin an anti-aging and moisturizing campaign in your late 20's and early 30's. As we age, our skin begins to breakdown and loose firmness and moisture. Collagen breaks down in our skin and we begin to see fine wrinkles. The solution is to replace what our skin is losing everyday. These five steps will help make your skin soft and smooth:

  1. Absolutely avoid the sun and use a sun screen
  2. Drink lots of water
  3. Exercise
  4. Replace the Collagen breakdown with a specially formulated day or night cream with Collagen. I recommend Cream Egalisante. You may also want to moisturize according to your skin type. I would recommend Milk of Mandarine from Colosé Skincare if you are not sure of your skin type.
  5. Take Vitamins

If you follow the above routine, you can continue to wear the same products you currently use. However, if you feel that these products are still not giving you the look you desire, then switch to a cream blush and a cream eye shadow. You will also want to stay will lighter colors or colors that are similar to your skin tone. Darker colors will sit in the creases of your eyes and enhance the wrinkles instead of hide them.

My eyes are big and when I put on eye liner it looks funny on me. It makes my eyes more noticeable, is there any way I can put on eye liner and still look good?

You need to find an eyeliner color that is less noticeable. Pick a color that blends better with your skin tone. It is probably best that you stay away from black, dark brown, and brown. It would be better if you found grey, white, blue or light brown eyeliner. I also suggest that you use either a Q-tip or an eyeliner brush to blend the color so it isn't a harsh line around your eye. Another technique to make your eyes appear smaller is to place the eyeliner across the entire lid as close to the eyelash as possible on both the upper and lower lash. If this still doesn't work, try placing the liner on the inner portion of your lower lash-always blend the color to avoid the harsh look that you dislike.

What color eye shadow would suit blue grey eyes?

Blue eyes, with any accent color such as grey, are best featured using the brown eye shadow family. This includes khaki, light brown, taupe, and some orange tones. I recommend you try Marron or Safari Gold from Colosé Cosmetics.

I have a very red complexion at all times and dont wear alot of make up so is there any foundation that would help me?

I recommend Caprice Foundation and Compact Cream Powder Concealer by Colosé. You should wear a yellow based foundation to cover the redness in your skin.

Could you please tell me how to tint black eye brows and lashes in to brown color, can I bleach first then dye?

We do not advise tinting or dying your eyelashes or eyebrows at home. Tinting is a job only to be attempted by a reputable professional using approved dyes. You can have your brows colored to match your hair for approximately $15 and your eyelashes about $25.00.

I want my nose to look longer. What should I do?

Apply blush on the apples of your cheeks and bring the color strongly back towards the ear. You will get an optical illusion effect that will emphasize your nose.

I've been on steroids for eczema and my eyebrows have all fallen out and look colorless. My eyebrows are naturally black but for some reason the color keeps fading away.

Please visit the doctor who prescribed the steroids for you. You should only take steroids for a short time to treat a severe outbreak of eczema. There are new medications out now for eczema that perhaps you can try. They are called topical immunomodulators, or TIMS. These steroid-free treatments are effective in treating eczema without the side effects found with using corticosteroids. Once you go off the steroids, your eyebrows should return to normal. In the meantime, you can try shading your eyebrows in a color a little lighter than your hair color.

HI! I have light colored skin. I have blonde hair and blue eyes. I`m 15, and I don`t really know how to put on most makeup. I would like to know what makeup would look best on me, and how I should put it on. One more thing, what would be some simple things to put on daily, such as mascara and so on. Thank you so much!

We have some good basic makeup tips that you should read.

I have blond hair and blue eyes. If I wear violet and lavender eyeshadow what color eye liner should I use and how should I wear it? Should I put it on both the top and bottom of my eyes or only the bottom?

You should wear a charcoal grey eyeliner. Putting eyeliner on the bottom lid is a personal preference and if it looks good, then do it. When you apply eyeliner to the bottom lid, follow this tip: eyeliner on the bottom rim should only be applied 1/2 way from the middle towards the nose because allowing the upper and lower corners to meet makes the eyes look smaller. Colosé grey eyeliner.

Why do makeup experts always say not to wear eyeliner on the bottom lid? I always wear it and i think it looks really good and doesn`t look too heavy at all. I feel like I shouldn`t wear it when I read this but i don`t look good without eyeliner on my bottom`s like my eyes dissapear into my head without eyes are very big and blue and I have naturally black this a good combination for black eyeliner? I think I look ugly with eyeliner on my top lid but not my bottom lid...eyeliner on the bottom lid seems to make all the difference for me...I could not wear any other makeup and still look quite nice.

It is not true that makeup experts always say not to wear eyeliner on the bottom lid. If it looks good then by all means wear it. A lot of experts do agree though that eyeliner on the bottom rim should only be applied 1/2 way from the middle towards the nose because allowing the upper and lower corners to meet makes the eyes look smaller. Yes with your dark hair black eyeliner is a good color for you but you can also experiment with some other colors that go well with your eyeshadow and blue eye color.

I bought my mascara about 5 weeks ago and it has already started to dry up. Can I add water or oil to it?

Number one advice: Change Brands! Choose a mascara that has a thin brush, which means that the opening to the tube will be small and less air will get in. When air enters the tube, it dries out the mascara. Avoid pumping the mascara wand too vigorously during use. This allows air to get into the tube. Add one drop of water to the tube of dry mascara if necessary. It's not a great idea, but in an emergency, you will be able to get more out of the tube by using this trick.

How to choose the correct color for eyeshadow?

The eyeshadow colors one chooses are based on skintone, eye color, hair color so I would need more information in order to answer your question. We have an excellent newsletter: Consumer's Guide to Makeup Colors that you should read to determine what colors are best for you.

On tonight`s 10 years younger programme you mentioned a foundation to cover vitaligo. Can you please tell me what it is called.

We have had the most positive feedback from the Dermablend products in covering vitaligo. You should try the Dermablend Compact Cover Crème and/or Dermablend Cover Creme Foundation. There is a large selection of color shades to choose from. Both products can be found at
